The collection consists of a letter written in Newburgh, N. Y. by Andrew Jackson Downing to a Miss Garrettson of Rhinebeck, N. Y. on September 19, 1838. Discusses the New York Horticultural Exhibition on September 29, 1838 and asks her to tell Freeborn Garrettson and Edward P. Livingston. Also included are a photstat of this letter and two letters relating the provenance of the material.
